For me this article illustrates an easily forgotten but really important point- that having a process of any kind is a really helpful way to counter mind-blocks and the “oh my god this is going to suck if I’m not inspired to do it” mentality. Having to be creative on command is never easy and can be extremely stressful. I think the steps Bowman outlines (researching & making word lists) are really effective ways of jump-starting your creative process. Looking at pre-existing ideas has always helped me come up with ideas of my own. I also agree with the importance of not cluttering up a website, or any designed piece, with too many images.
